Community Service activities have been carried out by the Community Service Team of Diponegoro University's Department of Environmental Engineering in Housing RT 6 RW 11, Meteseh Village, Tembalang Sub-District, Semarang in August. This activity is in the form of education on reducing plastic waste in order to face new normal which aims to provide knowledge to residents about the dangers of plastic waste to environmental sustainability and residents in residential environment RT 06 RW 11, Meteseh Village, Temabalang Sub-District, Semarang reduces the use of plastic waste in the face of new normal.
This activity was held at RT 6 RW 11, Meteseh Village, Tembalang Sub-District, Semarang with a total of 10 participants with presenters by five lecturers of the Department of Environmental Engineering Diponegoro University. Education is done online with several meetings ranging from socializing the use of zoom meeting applications to participants, socialization on how to reduce plastic waste. With this socialization, participants are expected to know the dangers of plastic use in the environment.
From this activity, residents can understand that carrying tumbler bottles for drinking, using their own totebag/shopping bag and various other alternatives can be done to realize plastic waste reduction activities. With knowledge of the dangers of plastic use, it is hoped that citizens can care to reduce their use by using environmentally friendly goods. Some of the solutions and alternatives that have been described through exposure are not so difficult to do. Thus, it is hoped that local governments can be more active to carry out further socialization to their citizens or not close the possibility to issue policies on the use of plastic waste in their area. So not only pkk mothers started plastic waste reduction activities, but all local residents took part and made plastic waste in meteseh village tembalang district semarang can be minimized faster.
